The minister of Education, Culture and Science of Mongolia
At the opening ceremony of the 9th Asian Physics OLIMPIAD

Excellencies from participating countries,
Distinguished guests,
And ladies and gentlemen,


On behalf of the Government of Mongolia, I would like to warmly welcome all the participants and honorable guests to the 9th Asian Physics Olympiad. It is a great honor to host such an important and internationally recognized Olympiad. In this exhilarating event, the most talented students from the countries in this region will have an opportunity to show their individual creativity and practical knowledge in physics, to make friends with other students with different nationality, and to have a glimpse of Mongolian history and culture.


During the course of the national development and integration into the today’s globalizing world, the Government of Mongolia has been putting a high priority to the development of education. We have always underlined the importance of promoting quality education and nurturing talented children and youth. Our investment in education will always bear a long term benefits to the generations to come.


Competition is not the only goal that we emphasize in this Olympiad, but also fostering friendship and good will among our youth for common better future. Physics, particularly, has played a vital role in shaping up our modern society and greatly improving the welfare of humankind. Enhancing scientific human capital by promoting education and nurturing talents is the most important strategies in the development of the national economy in the new era of information communications and technology. Moreover, this is a very good way to encourage our young students to pursue academic and practical excellence in science.


To wrap up, I would like to take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude to those who have supported and made a valuable contributions in making of this Olympiad such a successful event.
